DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS The Company is Canada’s largest mining company and the second largest gold producer in the world. It produces precious metals from operations in Canada, Australia, Finland and Mexico and has a pipeline of exploration and development projects. The Company was founded in 1957 and has consistently created value for its shareholders, declaring a cash dividend every year since 1983. The Company’s strategy is to deliver high quality growth while maintaining high performance standards in health and safety, environmental matters and social responsibility; build a strong pipeline of projects to drive future production; and employ the best people and motivate them to reach their potential. While the Company’s primary focus is on gold, it monitors opportunities and considers, and has made investments in, projects or companies focused on, the exploration, development and mining of, strategic and critical metals including zinc, copper, nickel, phosphate and lithium. The following table sets out the date of acquisition, the date of commencement of construction, the date of achieving commercial production and the estimated mine life for the Company’s operating mines as of the date of this AIF.
